In 2012, ISPC and The LeverEdge began supporting the charity, Homes For Our Troops (HFOT). In the latter half of 2013, we quietly promoted a fundraising effort by reaching out to some of our larger merchants, making them aware of the charity and the incredible good that it does, and then asking if they’d like to donate a small amount of each ISPC funded sale to the charity. Several eagerly chose to participate.
That initial list of merchants continues to grow and over the first six months of 2015 have collectively contributed $12,445.00. ISPC has matched that contribution and on the eve of celebrating our nation’s Independence Day has written a check to HFOT for $24,890.00. We’re very proud of this combined contribution.
This contribution is being earmarked for a particular veteran in Yorktown, Virginia. Army Staff Sergeant Woodrow (Woody) Slate of the 86th Dive Detachment. Woody was selected because of the location and construction timing of his new home. Yorktown is just outside of Virginia Beach and falls within the service boundaries of Water Treatment Services of America (WTS). WTS is a longtime LeverEdge dealer and ISPC merchant and has been a staunch supporter of our HFOT fundraising efforts since the beginning. In addition to our collective financial contribution, The LeverEdge will donate an AvantaPure by GE whole-house water conditioner which WTS has not only agreed to install, but will provide the Slate family with a lifetime of free service on the system.
The HFOT video of Woody’s story is below.
